How Can a Denver Outpatient Treatment Program Benefit You?

Mental health disorders affect each person in unique ways. Some people will have severe symptoms that disrupt their work and personal lives and need 24/7 care to recover safely. Those with milder symptoms may feel like they are beginning to lose control and want to get help before that happens.

A Denver outpatient treatment program offers support to men and women who want to improve their lives. An outpatient treatment program is best for those who can:

  • Commit to their recovery with minimal supervision
  • Follow instructions and meet at scheduled times
  • Abstain from drugs or alcohol
  • Have a supportive and sober home environment

At Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery, our Denver outpatient treatment program is available to men and women who want to get control of their mental health but don’t need 24/7 support. Aetna rehab insurance coverage includes an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for those who can still maintain their work and family life while getting the mental health support they need.

Aetna Rehab Insurance Coverage for Outpatient Treatment

Aetna offers mental health support that works best to fit your individual needs. Patients can receive support for depression, anxiety, or any number of mental health disorders through outpatient treatment covered by Aetna. They can attend therapy in-person, over the phone, or through telehealth services.

Aetna rehab insurance coverage will cover:

  • Intensive outpatient program (IOP) – An intensive outpatient program supports men and women through outpatient treatment covered by Aetna. Patients attend therapy for several hours during the day or evening for a set number of days, depending on their unique condition. IOP offers a more flexible treatment option over inpatient treatment and can be done remotely through telehealth services.
  • Individual therapy – Behavioral therapy is an integral part of your treatment. Individual therapy guides patients to understand their feelings better and create healthy coping skills to lead a productive life. Patients uncover long-buried memories driving their addiction and depression so true healing can begin.
  • Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) – Patients whose withdrawal symptoms interfere with their recovery can benefit from an MAT program. Medical staff will administer medications and monitor your progress, and make adjustments to your medication as you progress through the program. The goal of an MAT program is for you to be 100% drug-free and not replace one drug with another.

What Is Vivitrol Treatment?

Vivitrol is the brand name for medication with the active ingredient naltrexone, an opioid antagonist that blocks the effect of alcohol, heroin, and other opioids. Naltrexone works by binding with the mu-opioid cell receptors and blocks the release of dopamine and endorphins. It also prevents other opioids from binding with the receptors, decreasing your body’s craving and reliance.

Vivitrol is a monthly injection as part of a well-rounded addiction treatment program that includes behavioral therapy. Medical professionals will administer the medication at a facility or remotely and monitor your progress.

To avoid sudden withdrawal symptoms, you should not take Vivitrol if you have taken any of the following in the last seven to 14 days:

  • Heroin or other opioid drugs
  • Opioid pain medication
  • Medication for diarrhea
  • Common cold medication

At Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery, Vivitrol is just one part of your addiction treatment program. Medical staff will administer and monitor a medication-assisted treatment that may include Vivitrol. The medication you receive will depend on your current physical and mental health and the seriousness of addiction at the time of your enrollment.

Benefits of Enrolling in a Vivitrol Treatment Program near Westminster

When combining Vivitrol as part of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) near Westminster, you will have a greater chance at eliminating your cravings and reducing the chances of relapse. Many men and women who try to quit drugs or alcohol without help face an increased risk of overdose and death. Vivitrol eliminates your cravings, so you will no longer feel a physical need for opioids or alcohol. Other benefits of Vivitrol include:

  • A once-monthly injection administered by medical staff makes it easier to keep up with your medication.
  • Vivitrol is long-lasting, remaining in your system for a full 30 days. Patients get the maximum benefit of the medication with less worry about misuse.
  • While Vivitrol is an opioid, there is zero risk of misuse because only medical professionals can administer the medication.
  • Side effects are mild and temporary.
  • Vivitrol is non-addictive, and when you stop taking it, there is minimal risk of withdrawals.

The main goal of medication-assisted treatment is not to replace one drug for another. You will find better, healthier ways to deal with the cause of your addiction and end the physical cravings you have. At the end of your Vivitrol treatment program, the goal is for you to be 100% drug-free.

Choosing Outpatient Treatment for a Busy Lifestyle

Addiction affects people in unique ways. While the physical side effects are similar, like changing brain chemistry and physical cravings, your mental health plays a key role in how severe your addiction can be. Outpatient treatment is for men and women who have a strong support system and who are ready to build a foundation for lasting sobriety. If you want help with your addiction recovery and can continue with your daily commitments, an outpatient treatment program can help you reach your goal of lifelong recovery.

At Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery, we offer outpatient treatment for busy professionals who want help with their addiction recovery. We combine medication-assisted treatment and behavioral therapy to give you a better chance at maintaining your sobriety. If you or a loved one is struggling with addiction, call 833.448.0127 today to learn more about our outpatient treatment program.

Is an Outpatient Treatment Program Right for You?

The right addiction treatment program for you is determined by your initial evaluation when you arrive at a rehab center. There are two types of addiction treatment programs to help with your addiction recovery:

  • Residential (inpatient) treatment program – This program is for patients who require 24/7 care. Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery does not offer residential treatment. In these programs, patients live at the facility for a set number of days and attend behavioral therapy programs to help with their addiction. Programs typically last for 30-90 days, but some cases may require longer care.
  • Outpatient treatment program – An outpatient treatment program offers the same behavioral therapy and MAT program to patients who cannot take time away from their daily commitments. Patients attend therapy with day or evening sessions while living at home or in a sober community. Outpatient treatment works best for patients whose addiction symptoms are not severe enough to interrupt their work or home life. It requires a commitment to follow the program guidelines and your own ability to remain sober.

All addiction treatment programs give you access to lifelong care through aftercare programs and peer support from those you meet and help along the way. At Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery, medical staff and therapists work together to develop the right treatment for your addiction recovery. Your current physical and mental health, plus the severity of your addiction, will determine if you need a residential or outpatient treatment program.

Benefits of an Outpatient Treatment Program

While attending an outpatient rehab program, you will experience many physical and mental benefits as your body heals and your mental health improves. Just some of the benefits include:

  • An outpatient treatment program offers flexible treatment. Outpatient treatment can fit your busy schedule with day, evening, and telehealth options available. You will have a set number of hours of therapy each week with scheduled appointments with medical staff to administer medication and monitor your progress.
  • Treatment to meet your individual needs. Whether you need just a few hours a week of therapy or more, outpatient treatment can help with the right amount of therapy that you need to maintain your sobriety.
  • A more affordable treatment option. 24/7 care can get very expensive, and some insurance plans will only pay for a portion of the cost. An outpatient treatment program is less expensive than residential care.

Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery: Outpatient Treatment for a Busy Lifestyle

At Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery, our outpatient rehab program can help busy professionals, students, and stay-at-home mothers who want to get control of their addiction. We have day, evening, and telehealth sessions available to meet your schedule and give you the help you need to get healthy and sober. Call 833.448.0127 today to speak with our staff about outpatient treatment for those with a busy lifestyle to learn more about our outpatient treatment program.

Addiction IOP near Westminster, Colorado, is a form of addiction treatment that works best for those who cannot take time away from work and family commitments. What Is Addiction IOP near Westminster, Colorado?

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) helps men and women struggling with addiction who have a stable and sober home environment. Patients attend anywhere from 10-20 hours per week of behavioral therapy during the day or evening while medical staff administers medications to help ease their withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Having a supportive and sober home environment is critical for addiction IOP to work.

An Intensive outpatient program near Westminster offers a more flexible treatment option for busy professionals, students, and stay-at-home mothers. Patients need to follow strict therapy and medication schedules while avoiding activities that trigger their addiction. An outpatient program only works if patients can maintain their sobriety without 24/7 care.

What to Expect from an Intensive Outpatient Program

Addiction does not affect everyone the same way. There are a lot of factors that come into play that can make one person more susceptible to addiction than another. Family history, genetics, current affairs, and the environment in which you grew up can all affect your ability to control your cravings and addiction. Your current physical and mental health will determine which type of addiction treatment program is right for your unique symptoms.

Medical staff and therapists will perform a complete evaluation to determine the best form of treatment. For those whose addiction severity does not require round-the-clock care, you can expect the following from your IOP near Westminster:

  • Individual behavioral therapy sessions to help you get a better understanding of addiction and how it affects your thinking and emotions.
  • Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to help reduce the painful physical withdrawal symptoms of addiction and curb your cravings so you can focus on your recovery and not your symptoms.
  • Group therapy with your peers where you will learn and practice coping skills that will help you maintain your sobriety and build a strong network of sober peer support.
  • Family counseling to help restore fractured relationships and get everyone on board with helping with your recovery.

Throughout your addiction IOP program, staff will monitor your progress to ensure you are working towards sustainable sobriety.

What Is Ambulatory Detox and Do I Need It?

Detoxing from substance abuse is unique for every person who forms an addiction to drugs or alcohol. Some patients will require 24-hour supervision, while others will have mild withdrawal symptoms and can complete their detox program through ambulatory detox. What is ambulatory detox? An ambulatory detox program is an outpatient medication-assisted treatment program that will help ease your withdrawal symptoms and curb your cravings.

At Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery, we provide an ambulatory detox program for patients in good physical and mental health. Medical professionals will administer FDA-approved drugs at a treatment facility, office, or sober home environment. They will also monitor your progress and make any updates as you progress. To learn more about our ambulatory detox program, call 833.448.0127 today to find out if you qualify for ambulatory detox.

What Is Ambulatory Detox?

Many busy professionals and students use drugs or alcohol to deal with the stress of high-pressure jobs or a busy college schedule. They appear to maintain their use and don’t form an addiction. When, in reality, they are forming an addiction without even knowing it. Over time, their addiction grows to the point where it interferes with work or school.

An ambulatory detox program is beneficial to students and professionals who:

  • Have a busy schedule and cannot take time off for a residential treatment program
  • Are unable to meet the financial costs of residential treatment
  • Do not have a stable and sober home environment

Do You Need Ambulatory Detox?

If you are not sure if you need a detox program, think about your substance abuse and answer the following questions:

  • Are you using more to feel the same effects?
  • Do you constantly think about drugs or alcohol?
  • Are you missing work or school because of your substance abuse?
  • Are you lying about your substance abuse to your friends and family?

If you have answered yes to more than one of these questions, an ambulatory detox program can help you before your addiction completely takes over your life.

At Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery, we understand that not everyone needs a residential detox program to help with addiction. That is why we provide detoxing through our telehealth remote program and medication-assisted treatment for patients who qualify for an ambulatory detox program.

Ambulatory Detox Qualifications

Part of the conditions for ambulatory detox is attending an outpatient treatment program through a qualified addiction treatment facility. Patients will go through individual and group therapy programs to help them understand addiction and how it affects them mentally and physically. Plus, it will teach them healthy coping skills to maintain their busy schedules without drugs or alcohol.

To qualify for an ambulatory detox program, you must commit to your sobriety and not use this as a temporary fix. Along with attending addiction therapy for a set period of time, patients must:

  • Be in good physical health
  • Have no history of drug or alcohol abuse
  • Have a supportive and sober home environment
  • Receive support from friends or family members

What to Expect During the Detox Process

Opioids flood your body with toxins that produce a euphoric feeling that can create a powerful addiction with just a few uses. Those who are suffering from addiction can benefit from a detox process to cleanse their bodies of toxins and begin working on their addiction recovery. An ambulatory detox process can help patients who do not need an inpatient program to help with their withdrawal symptoms.

At Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery, we offer a discreet ambulatory detox process for patients who have a sober home environment and no prior detox attempts. We understand the hardship of going through the detox process and that not everyone can take the time away from work or need the structure of an inpatient detox program. If you or someone you love needs help with drug or alcohol addiction withdrawals, call 833.448.0127 today to speak with our caring staff about our detox process.

What Is Ambulatory Detox?

An ambulatory detox program is an outpatient drug detox program designed for patients who are going through detoxing for the first time and have no underlying mental health issues. FDA-approved medications can help relieve withdrawal symptoms, and medical professionals will monitor your recovery. The medication can reduce withdrawal symptoms and curb your cravings, allowing you to focus on your recovery and keep up with your responsibilities.

To qualify for the ambulatory detox process, you must meet the following criteria:

  • A safe and sober living arrangement
  • Access to transportation
  • A commitment to treatment
  • Enrollment in an intensive outpatient program (IOP)

To determine if you are eligible for ambulatory detox, medical professionals and therapists will evaluate your current condition and level of addiction. From there, they will recommend the appropriate level of addiction treatment that will benefit you the most. At Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery, we can assist you with the detox process for all types of drug and alcohol addiction.

The Detox Process

Detoxing can be a painful or uncomfortable process depending on the substance you are abusing. Illicit drugs like heroin and other opioids can create a powerful addiction just after a few uses, while other drugs and alcohol may take time to build up an addiction. The average time it takes to detox can take anywhere from two to three weeks to several months. It depends on the substance of abuse, the severity of addiction, and how long the patient has struggled with addiction.

The first 24-48 hours is when most withdrawal symptoms will begin. Patients can expect to feel:

  • Intense cravings
  • Sweating
  • Shivering
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia

Most drug and alcohol addiction withdrawal symptoms will peak around 72 hours. Patients can expect to feel worsening withdrawal symptoms, including fever, seizures, and hallucinations may occur. Medical professionals will monitor your progress and administer medications to reduce your withdrawal symptoms and cravings.

After five to seven days, most withdrawal symptoms will begin to taper off. Some more severe cases of addiction will have withdrawal symptoms that can last for several months. As your withdrawal symptoms reduce, so will your medication. The goal of medication-assisted treatment is not to replace one drug with another but to have you completely drug-free by the end of your addiction treatment program.

Setting Realistic Goals for Your Recovery

Many people will make New Year’s resolutions with high hopes of changing their lives for the better. The most popular resolutions for 2022 include eating healthier, getting enough sleep each night, and joining a gym. With addiction cases on the rise over the last year due to the pandemic and continuing financial hardships, getting sober is a New Year’s resolution many people will be making.

Patients who have never gone through addiction recovery may not understand how difficult addiction recovery can be. They assume that their withdrawal symptoms will end after a few days or weeks, and they are cured. In reality, most treatment programs last 30 – 90 days and require a lifetime commitment to maintaining their sobriety. Many patients will complete a program and continue to attend therapy sessions for years as they continue to feel their cravings once in a while.

Patients who succeed with their addiction recovery understand that recovery will take time and will do everything they can to reach their goals. Patients who are successful with their addiction recovery have realistic goals and commit to:

  • Setting aside quiet time each day for reflection and contemplation
  • Maintain their health through exercise and healthy eating
  • Attend therapy sessions on a regular basis
  • Work on mending fractured relationships
  • Create a sober home environment

Outpatient Addiction Recovery

To help with your addiction recovery goals, Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery offers outpatient addiction recovery programs for patients who are physically and mentally fit. An outpatient addiction recovery program can help patients whose withdrawal symptoms are not as severe and who have a stable home environment. Without a sober home, the road to recovery can be more difficult.

During outpatient treatment, you will work with therapists and your peers to create healthy coping skills that will help you throughout your life. You will learn to recognize your triggers and practice your coping skills with others in the program. Meanwhile, medical professionals will administer FDA-approved medication to reduce your withdrawal symptoms and allow you to focus on your recovery as well as your home and work commitments.

Other benefits of an outpatient addiction recovery program include:

  • A rehab program that fits your schedule
  • A more private rehab experience
  • A tailored treatment program to meet your individual needs
  • More affordability than inpatient programs

IOP for Addiction Recovery Covered by Cigna Insurance

If you are struggling with addiction and thinking about enrolling in an addiction recovery program, you may have several questions like which type of program is right for you. Do you need a residential program or an intensive outpatient program (IOP)? Is IOP covered by Cigna? What will I be expected to pay? All of these questions and more will be answered during your initial evaluation to determine if an intensive outpatient treatment program is right for you.

At Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery, our addiction recovery programs include outpatient programs along with medication-assisted treatment to help reduce the painful withdrawal symptoms of addiction. If you have questions about whether Cigna covers intensive outpatient programs and other addiction treatment programs, call 833.448.0127 today to speak with one of our caring staff about insurance coverage by Cigna.

What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) typically follows a residential treatment program. During IOP, you will work on practicing your coping skills in group therapy while continuing to work with your therapist with one-on-one therapy sessions. You will spend five to 30 hours a week in therapy, with the intention of decreasing your time over several months until you can maintain your sobriety without the support of daily therapy.

To continue with an intensive outpatient program, you will need a sober environment to return to at night. Each day, you will return for continuing treatment during the day. Without a sober home environment, you will face higher risks of relapse and hinder your progress. If you do not have a sober home, there are sober halfway houses available until you have a sober home environment to help with your addiction recovery.

At Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery, your initial evaluation will determine which type of outpatient program is right for you based on several factors:

  • The severity of your addiction
  • State of your mental health
  • Family support
  • Current living situation
  • How the treatment will be paid for

We can help you determine which program is right for you and what Cigna will cover based on your insurance plan. Including deductibles and the percentage that you are responsible for.

Is IOP Covered by Cigna?

Cigna provides substance use benefits through employer-sponsored health plans. Your coverage depends on the insurance plan that you are on through an employer or self-paid insurance. Most plans have varying deductible amounts that will be the responsibility of the patient or financial provider until the deductible is met. Once the deductible is satisfied, Cigna may cover all or a portion of your intensive outpatient program. Your coverage will depend on the type of plan you are on. Substance use benefits may include:

  • Inpatient and outpatient treatment services
  • Follow-up case management
  • Personalized coaching and support programs that work around your schedule
  • Referrals to community support groups, online resources, and behavioral coaches

Before enrolling in an intensive outpatient program, check your insurance requirements to ensure your Cigna rehab insurance covers the program and the treatment center is within your network. Some insurance plans are specific to some treatment centers, and not all programs are covered.

Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery Can Help You Determine if IOP Is Covered by Cigna

At Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery, we can help you with your insurance plans to determine the best form of care that your insurance covers. We offer addiction treatment programs for all forms of addiction, including:

  • Alcohol
  • Opiates and opioids
  • Heroin
  • OxyContin
  • Percocet

We also have dual diagnosis treatment programs to help with any corresponding mental health issues that may be fueling your addiction. If you have questions about your Cigna insurance coverage for an intensive outpatient program, call 833.448.0127 to learn more about Cigna rehab insurance and which of our programs are covered.

Benefits of Committing to an Outpatient Drug Rehab in Colorado

Addiction recovery is a lifelong pursuit. You will face many triggers throughout your life that will try to push you to abuse opioids, alcohol, or other drugs. To continue to receive the help you need while returning to your everyday responsibilities, consider an outpatient program. A Colorado outpatient rehab center can give you access to all the services and treatment options that will help you maintain your sobriety.

At Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery, our outpatient rehab center is available to those who can work on their addiction treatment and maintain a busy schedule and for those who have successfully completed a higher level of care such as a residential addiction treatment program or inpatient detox program. To learn more about our Colorado outpatient drug rehab center, call 833.448.0127 today to speak with a member of our caring support staff about enrolling in our outpatient rehab program.

When Is an Outpatient Rehab Program Right for You?

An outpatient rehab center is not right for everyone. Each person will have unique life experiences that contribute to their addiction through emotional distress, a past traumatic event, or other mental health issues. There is no simple cure for addiction, and the best treatment for you will come from your initial evaluation from a clinician. They may suggest an inpatient or outpatient treatment program based on their assessment.

For busy professionals who consider themselves functional or social drug users who feel their addiction is getting out of control, an outpatient treatment program can give them the support they need while keeping up with their busy lives. Patients will attend therapy sessions several hours a week at a drug rehab center or virtually through text messaging, phone, and zoom calls.

For those who have completed an inpatient or residential drug addiction treatment program, an outpatient rehab center will benefit their recovery as they transition back to their personal lives at home or through a sober living home for drug recovery.

Sober Living Homes

Some patients come from a home where they will not get the support they need or cannot trust themselves to live alone and not relapse. For these individuals, sober living homes are available as the next step toward living a sober life outside of a drug rehab center.

Sober living homes offer a community of peers and staff to encourage you to maintain your sobriety as you slowly integrate back into society with powerful coping skills to help you out in public life.

Continuing Drug Addiction Treatment Through Telehealth Services

Suppose you don’t live near an outpatient drug rehab center or your work schedule keeps you away from in-person therapy sessions. In that case, telehealth services are available to maintain your commitment to your therapy and when life gets particularly complicated and you feel a relapse is imminent.

At Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery, we use the latest technologies to connect with patients 24/7. Addiction does not follow a set clock, and your cravings can hit you at any time. Telehealth services will include:

  • Web-based tools
  • Texting
  • Smartphone apps
  • Telephone services
  • Videoconferencing

Cortland Mathers-Suter

MSSA
Managing Partner

Cortland Mathers-Suter entered the treatment space after his own battle with addiction. He first worked as a peer mentor, before starting clinical work while completing his Masters of Science in social administration from Case Western Reserve University where he focused on policy and direct practice. Cortland moved to Colorado in 2015 to start his first addiction treatment program, AspenRidge Recovery. Under his tenure, AspenRidge Recovery became a two-location, nationally accredited organization. He has since spent the last two years researching and developing what is now Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery (CMAR).

According to Cortland, “Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery is the most important organization I have had the honor to help build. We’re offering a service that seeks to not only improve the lives of our patients but also evolve how we look at medication-assisted treatment in Colorado entirely. Most individuals receiving medication-assisted care only receive medication and urinalysis. Sure you can call that ‘treatment,’ but you can’t call that ‘recovery.’ Our model is about adding the missing recovery component, and thus affords an opportunity to achieve lasting change for each patient and the industry.”

Cortland and his treatment programs have received numerous honors. These include Colorado Business Magazine’s “GenXYZ” award, the 2020 “Titan 100” award, and his program AspenRidge Recovery was both a finalist for “Best Healthcare Company” and named in the “Company’s to Watch” by Colorado Business Magazine as well. He has been interviewed and quoted by numerous publications for his “addiction expertise”, including News Week, 5280 Magazine, the Denver Post, Elephant Journal, Colorado Biz Mag, and TheRecoverySource.org.

Kirstin O’Carroll started her career in addiction and mental health services 23 years ago after graduating with an MSW from The Oho State University. Hired directly from an internship program, she served as a case manager and vocational specialist on a community treatment team in Columbus, OH, working to help severely mentally ill adults remain at home and in a community setting. After seven years, Kirstin made a career change to diagnostic sales and worked for several Fortune 500 companies as an acute care sales specialist.
